| Comment | Looks like the land-owning class is really out in force downvoting this post and every comment. Since you're here, do you really think no landlord ever lies to their tenant? Or omits information or evades? Do landlords ever have to provide references from former tenants to prospective tenants? And don't you feel a little bit icky raising your prices to take advantage of people's desperation to find shelter?
And before you say "that's not me, don't tar all landlords with the same brush," I feel the same way as a dog owner. I groom my dog regularly, I brush his teeth and cut his nails. I trained him from day one to not go on furniture and to sleep in a crate. I leave him in a crate with a camera and bark monitor on the very rare occasions I leave him alone. When I move out of a flat I deep-clean it, cleaning the walls and getting on my hands and knees to clean the baseboards. I have left every flat in better condition than it was rented to me in. So having landlords assume I will leave their flat dirty and smelly without even meeting me or my dog is no better than me assuming that every landlord is a greedy bloodsucker who thinks they are better than renters just by virtue of the fact that they have more money and property. |
