I'll rephrase.

They can give you 28 days notice, they're hoping you comply, pack up and leave. But you don't have to leave, and to get you evicted the hard way takes a fortune in lawyers fees and 6 to 12 months of court hearings. That's what I mean by 'impossible'. It's not worth the landlords time or effort. They can send you letters but that's about it. They can't even use harsh language, as you can complain to the local authority and they could lose their landlord registration. So long as your rent is being paid, they'll let you off with almost anything. Mind you, probably best to make sure you're not renting from a gangster, you might find yourself short of an eyeball.

For what? A pet? It's not worth the hassle. Banning pets in the tenancy agreement is similar. They're just hoping you quietly comply, but if you move in and bring a pet anyway? There's very little they can actually do.

Obviously, I'm not suggesting anyone tells their landlord "i'll do what I want, fuck you", cos that would make you a bad person.
