Comment	A lot of young men seem to really rely on the confidence boost from ‘gear’ and binge drinking. It’s normalised, too. Many of them aren’t bad people at all. It’s quite sad to me how a lot of them need at least two pints and a line of coke to start a conversation, because when they’re sober they just can’t hack it. I’m sure fellow female bar staff can back this up - groups of guys on a ‘sesh’ legit just stare you down until they get drunk / coked up enough to start ‘talking’ to (at) you. I had a usually normal regular, I think he does doors at some place, who I’m absolutely certain was on coke, or some kind of drug, come up and tell me he sees me on the train home sometimes - tells me I have ‘perfect teeth, not turkey teeth, not like (sniff) like fake teeth’ (?) and proceed to continue this line (pun?) of bizarre dialogue for the next few minutes. Tells me my hair is messy. Why is it messy? …etc etc. His pupils? Insane. Not sure what drug it is that does that. That’s for the bouncer to deal with ig. Lost a bit of respect for the guy. I’ve never seen him like that before, but it’s worryingly common how often I’ll have someone saunter up - someone who I’ve seen before when they were apparently sober, like someone who briefly made eye contact earlier that night - and they just launch into a coked out monologue. I actually had a nutter stroke my head once, I swear to god. Not like, stroke my hair, but like a wee pat on the head you’d give a good little dog. And this was a guy who earlier couldn’t look me in the eye at the till like less than 2 hours ago. And I’m standing there like, ? And you have to wonder and hope there’s someone taking care of them out there. The bouncers can only ever do so much to try to stop this. The real danger I think is when they get aggressive towards the staff. Again, it bothers me when my usually nice, normal regulars transform into absolute cretins. It bothers me that people think they need this shit to have a ‘good’ time. And they act surprised and angry that staff obv can’t serve them when they’re that far gone.
