It's not a *terrible* rental figure in the current market, but it's really not a great area. Perhaps as a temporary measure it could work, and then once you're in the city you may find it easier to secure something better? Glasgow Cali is very easy to access because of its proximity to the bus station, you should maybe consider looking further afield - consider Dennistoun out towards Alexandra Park, the buses back into town from along there are plentiful and would take you almost directly to your Uni doorstep?
