We bought a house a couple of years ago and went mad filling it with ikea furniture. We ended up with a lot of “that’ll do” furniture which was fine but not amazing.

My advice to you, OP, is to get a lot of cheap second hand furniture, and then over the next year or two keep an eye out for stuff that you actually love, and buy it when you can afford it. Then you won’t feel bad about replacing the second hand stuff you already have. You will end up with a house full of furniture you really like, rather than a lot of expensive “that’ll do” ikea stuff that you’d feel guilty getting rid of now - like us!
