| Comment | I am a cyclist but I don't in general go through red lights. I mean later at night when there is not a soul to be seen I sometimes do. I also think cars should be allowed to as well at simple junctions but only after stopping at the line and then making a judgement and proceeding with caution. To cross the line without first stopping, even with no other traffic around, should be an offence.
Some car drivers get very annoyed at cyclists who jump the lights and again whilst it is strictly not allowed it is generally totally harmless. Cyclists don't kill and maim anyone and don't kill car drivers. Big metal boxes with 4 wheels are far more of a danger and should be more heavily penalised when not following the rules. |
