I understand what you’re trying to state, we should be seeing everyone as equal but we are not seen as equal. Focussing on queer rights, we are not equal compared to cis/straight people. There is still a lot of hate, oppression, laws made against us, our rights dictated in laws, so no matter how much we try to be equal, we are not equal. It’s the reason we have these events, because we are still shamed, disowned, abused and pushed into hiding for our identity. We aren’t just showing up to be like “yass bitch I’m gay”, we show up because it’s one place we feel comfortable being out, being proud of who we are, with hundreds of other queer people.
I understand where you’re trying to come from but I think you need to have another think about your views on this because they’re very flawed. |
