I always laugh ... When I moved to Glasgow, everyone back home thought "oh god, ye would need to watch yourself moving there, it's mental" and when I eventually moved to Glasgow and told people where I was from the glaswegians would say "oh god, I heard that place is a bit dodgy and rough" - I have never had issues living in either place. It is fear of the unknown.... And obviously media and hearing the bad stories. People rarely tell u the good parts. Anyways my whole point is, I will reiterate what most people here have said. Be wise. You are going to be living in a city. Keep to yourself. Don't walk alone at night or in badly lit areas. Don't get wrapped up in any dodgy shit. That's not the say u can't have fun (I'm a female) and I certainly be careful where I walk at night or alone any time for that matter and I don't particularly feel like I'm living in fear. Just not being stupid. End of. Enjoy yourself and don't be limited by unnecessary worry. If you are that worried then don't move to the area's you mentioned. I first lived in scotstoun, had no issues. Living southside now. Everywhere here is great and the people are lovely....
