Bike for good offering a bike buddying thing to help you go over your commute.

Tips wise, cycle defensively. Don’t let cars push you into the gutter, cycle a meter from the kerb at least. If there is not enough room for a car to pass you safely (ie they would be squeezing past you) then take the lane (ride in the centre of the lane), this is the primary position and the safest to be in. You have a right to be there and ignore anybody who tells you otherwise.

At junctions, take the centre of the lane. This discourages people from trying to overtake around you or cut you off.

Always check behind your shoulder when turning or moving over.

You do not have to use the cycle lane if it’s not safe. Ie if there are lots of parked cars, it’s winter (usually they are not gritted). You have a right to be on the road.

Never filter up behind a bus. It’s very dangerous.

I prefer riding on the road to pavements these days, you will get there! Ignore drivers who give you grief.
