Hello OP, I am actually an Orthnithologist who specialises in aves of the family Columbidae, which are the doves and the pigeons, although the doos I assume you refer to are actually properly called rock doves due to the fact they mainly populate rocky outcrops inland. I can tell you that from my considerable experience that while most doves or pigeons can breed at any point of the year, they tend to prefer spring and summer when it becomes warmer. As a result of us now being in July, with summer now in full spring it's expected that the juveniles, depending on time of breeding of course, would now be in their 'teenage years' of approximately 22ish days, which as a result means that the parent doves or pigeons who are normally diurnal which is to say they are awake during the day, now opt for a semi-nocturnal pattern in which they stay up later on the piss while the teens are sleeping, and as a result it can be alarming to normal passersby to see a small collection of steaming rock doves in the middle of the road not giving a fuck. Of course it depends on the specific nature of the bird in question which is the reason for the variation and how you tend to see them in small ma or da packs. Hope that clarifies!
