Comment | Of they charge the cheaper price at "peak" and raise it the rest of the time, the service won't be sustainable. They need to cover the cost of the service running nearly empty with the fares at peak times.
It costs roughly the same to run a bus (I assume train too) empty as full, so the costs need to be covered somehow. I can't think how to cover it other than nationalisation and tax, without paying more at peak times. |
