I can see what OP is getting at. The imported fruit (bananas, some apples, mangoes, cherries etc.) is not as sweet in the UK as it’s picked before it’s fully ripened and shipped to us.

I’ve lived in warm climates as well, and the fruits listed above are much sweeter than those you can find in the UK.

In reply to OP’s question, buying stuff in season is your best bet. I buy from locovore but don’t find the fruit that special. As for supermarkets, M&S is your best bet.
