| Comment | Overall glasgow is undergoing heavy gentrification. Just look at all the Cala and Lowther developments pricing people out of their own neighbourhoods. It I can only speak to the West and South sides mind. This is why it is called 'up and coming' and its exactly why nobody can afford to buy. Call it what you want but our government are allowing and facilitating this to happen while refusing to build social. Give it a few more years and itl be MMR and buy-to-let central. Oh, and fuck the Airbnbs. My issue with gentrification started with Silverburn and watching the prices get out of control in my own backyard, watching everyone I knew be forced to move and replaced with wannabe middle class. KP is getting it (300k for a flat), Partick got it, it has started in certain areas on the edges of Ibrox and Govan. The 'nice bit' of Govanhill is getting it. Shawlands will be treated like West End lite (Battlefield and Cathcart are seen as desirable areas as a substitute for not affording thr actual West End). |
