Comment	i lived in ek for 25 years and let me tell you, you couldn't pay me to live there ever again but a lot of it is down to what kinda person i am. public transport exists there but unless you live near one of the train stations, you'll need to deal with unreliable bus times (from city center to where i lived in ek, it could take 40 mins - 2 hours on the bus) and cycling is just impossible there (i got into trouble by the police there for cycling on the road AND cycling of the pavement there.... on the same day) so your options are usually suck it up and buy a car OR try walking on streets that force you to always take the long way to avoid slowing down traffic. i know people will say "well just buy a car then" i did, driving there sucks too. if you have kids, better buy them an xbox because there's very little for them to do there. it's basically 5 aside football, underage drink or go to the key/skate park or ek shopping center. also better get used to giving them lifts everywhere too because there's a good chance to get to anywhere, they'd have to walk through some not great areas to get to them. there is EK shopping center but last time i was there (march) it was pretty empty and somehow even more depressing than when i worked there during the 08 finiancial crisis. also hope you/your partner isn't in a wheelchair if you go there because there's a massive slope part where it's easy for the wheelchair to run away from you when going down the slope and it's difficult to push them up the slope.
