Should be no problem getting off to push. The secret is to go up as far as you can until you run out of steam. As time goes on you will get further and further.

Having a consistent climb on your cycle route allows you to gauge your fitness as you can monitor precisely what your progress is.

Even though it is quite steep there is no wind and the concrete surface is pretty flat which causes less friction.

Not sure about your bike or cycling experience but practically you can do a lot with your bike to make it easier.

Get the weight down by ditching all unnecessary stuff like frame mounted locks, racks, mudguards, bottle holders etc. Have good look at what you can do.

Make sure you have city tyres like semi slick. Make sure they are near maximum pressure. Soft tyres are the biggest friction issue.

Make sure that your chain and drive gear are well lubricated and working efficiently.

Before you know it you will be getting up the hill no bother. I cycle through it a few times a week but wherever possible I will use the bridges at Pacific Quay. Just depends on where you are going exactly. I do deliveries so sometimes my drop off is more in the east of Govan so the bridges are a good option.

The Clyde really doesn’t have enough bridges and when you find one there are three or four in a row. Glasgow could desperate do with a pedestrian bridge around the Partick area and another at Yoker but that is apparently planned.
