Hang on - I've just realised what the reason might be
If you have a second property that's left unoccupied, in Scotland after a certain period the council can start charging you 200% council tax (to disincentivise folk sitting on unused property)
One of the exemptions to that is if you have the house on the market - so it's probably just a listing to dodge the extra tax
