I'm in Airdrie, been here 10 years and it's decent. Plenty of new-build houses and estates with families and young kids. When we bought, the same house was about 30% more in "Uddingston" - what the rest of us know as Maryville/Baillieston/Calderpark Zoo. Airdrie has a train line to Edinburgh and Glasgow, the other place had pylons, two motorways and the smell of a landfill site going for it!

Everywhere has its good and bad, there are bits of Airdrie that I'd avoid and there are bits that are sound. Same with everyone else I've ever been...

Depends on where your priorities lie.
