Can't be sure, but I can think of the reasons.
First time was more than a decade ago I parked it on New Gorbals, perfectly legally, on publicly available places, with plenty of free places around and I left a Polish paper behind the windscreen. I was gone for maybe 15 minutes and it was badly keyed when I came back.
Second time was last year. We wanted to wild camp on the beaches near Otter estage near Portavadie and we were looking to place to park our car so it does not obstruct a traffic or anything (we are very considerate that way). There was a house at one of the gates to the estate and we asked the guy if we can park outside, and he said we can, but better still, we can take our car down the shore and park it there and if anyone bothers us and is not happy with us driving on the private road, we are just to tell them he gave us his permission.
Well, turns out some was not happy but did not wanted to bother to speak to us... We saw only one person, a lady who went past us and never answered to our hello, and then went on the phone and was moaning to someone about something we could not hear, but of course, we never caught her doing it.
Anyway, the police will take your report, take picture, take down your statement and perhaps ask around if someone has seen anything, but they have no resources to do much more... |
