>Where did you get that idea?

Well, for once that my friend happens to live in Miernicza street in Wrocław, Poland. That's where several hollywood blockbusters, including Spielberg's Bridge of Spies featuring Tom Hanks, were shot, along with some other wartime movies. And she gets tourists on her street on regular basis.

I agree there is probably not enough toruists coming there to bring enough tourist to the city, but politcians are stupid and they honestly believe that. There was also that idiotic idea to blow up a historic bridge in Poland for the new Mission Impossible movie, and that was portrayed by the politicians as a way to boost tourism in the area too.

You can read about it here: https://www.thefirstnews.com/article/so-long-tom-historic-bridge-saved-from-tom-cruise-bomb-14980

And this is really stupid. Because I would not mind see the city they shot Gotham, but expecting anyone to go and see the place where THE BRIDGE NO LONGER EXISTS, because it was blown up for the movie is utterly stupid. So yes, I personally don't think that would boost tourist that much (although the idea is not completely ridiculous, see my first example). But some politicians seem to believe that so I would not be surprised if that was the thinking behind Glasgow's decission to allow shooting movies here too.
