Glasgow is one of the few places in the entire country where a cut in housing benefit doesn't lead to a significant rise in homelessness, and i took that off a website for Glasgow social issues, so its definitely fair to say the costs are no where near and the pay definitely doesn't drop as far as that. I see people saying a house in glasgow costs 4x income usually, thats unheard of in london. If you can't accept that you will only be one of a large stack of public sector workers who think they are worth much much more than they could ever earn in the private sector that I and many others have encountered.
