Comment | Here’s a sad story of house moving regret with a positive ending.
We moved into our flat last year, new build, expensive part of town, everybody was moving in at the same time and seemed nice/professional etc. The guy next door to us moved in and suddenly it was pumping loud music, like it was like being next to a nightclub. It was the night of my birthday and I had a panic attack (we had moved from our first house in Brighton years ago because of that exact problem).
It happened regularly throughout the summer.
We tried to sell a few months later but because the place is technically seen as a new build (even if the building has been there for decades, when it was an office), we were going to lose too much money.
Things have got a bit better since, the guy has calmed down a bit (we talked to him) but I still deep down regret selling a 3 bedroom house with garden for this. But you can only move forward, right? And a year down the line, I’ve had better opportunities here than where I lived before, so good things have happened.
In your case, if you’re renting you can get out as Scotland is great like that (you are not locked in for 6 months). There are cheaper areas in town - Merchant City is expensive, and rowdy at night. Expand your search a little. Things will turn around. |
