And are those designers *just* designing, or are they prototyping, wireframing or implementing any of their designs?

Even if it's just proof of concept?

And I'm sorry if just being a mere developer means I can't give someone advice getting into the industry from my experience.

Stacking some UX experience on top of your design experience is going to show you have a willingness to branch out and get you into better paying positions.

Or are you in one of those cheap dev shops where they just reskin Bootstrap and call it a day?
