Recently just made my first purchase. If you rent there's no bad time to make a first purchase. The money you pay in rent you'll never see again. Might as well burn it. If you buy a house, so long you aren't overstretched, you'll see some returns for your money even if the market collapses. I was cautious with my purchase. I borrowed only 3 times my salary and stretched my mortgage over a long term so that I have more ready available cash for the upcoming money struggles we'll all face.
