Given the nature of trains arriving in Waverly from all over the UK (aware that there are national journeys from Glasgow, but a lot go via Edinburgh so it seems like a hub) it's so incredibly disorganised and you always seem to be bumping into people (doesn't help that the central barriers to promote a one way system are ignored by everyone) and it's a relief to get out of.

That being said, the new Queen St I would argue is just as bad in terms of general unpleasantness. But it could be improved by just announcing platforms more than 4-5 minutes before the train leaves. They have created a situation where everyone mulls around the ticket gates because you have to rush through to catch your train meaning it's massively busy. Give out the platform 10-15 minutes before the train departs and most people would meander up to the platform and there would be more space to wait (not that you can do much else since there's bugger all there).
