yeah, public transport prices in the UK are ridiculously expensive. the strikes usually happen during the summer, but you always have the bus as an option or vice versa. hence why you're having such a hard time finding somewhere close! When I first moved here I found a place with a family as their lodger via spare room and then moved out once I felt comfortable with which areas I liked which was about 8 months after living here. I can contact her to see if they have a room available or if they're even doing the lodging thing anymore. Sound good? it was near kelvinbridge station.
