Sorting a payment plan is all well and good if you can afford it. At the moment my gas and electricity is a quarter of my income. Almost the same as my rent. Once it goes up in October it will be a choice between me paying it or my nursery fees. Or by that point I might not even be able to afford my nursery fees either. If I can’t afford my nursery fees I’ll have to quit my job. And then I’ll be on universal credit which absolutely will not cover my gas and electricity never mind much else.

Find yourself very fortunate that it is a choice not to pay and not that it’s just absolutely unaffordable. I get my wages monthly. When I called Scottish power they offered to split my bill into fortnightly. I still get paid the same amount every month regardless so how is a payment plan helpful? Or shall I just go into debt for the rest of my life? That’s not an option though. Can’t go on to pay as you go and then not afford to pay can I? Shall I just not pay my rent then instead? Or just not buy food?
