Small businesses aren’t the only ones that are going to go under… My mate works for a massive restaurant chain, it was previously one of the best performing locations in the UK. He keeps saying they’re running a skeleton crew of reliable staff a good few days a week (post lockdown this was only really happening on a slow day every couple of weeks) and his boss is telling him that they’re close to making a large number of staff redundant. He’s seeing fractional footfall compared to a few months ago and serving staff are getting tuppence in tips from customers that are coming in, alongside making tiny orders. He’s convinced he’s not going to have a job much longer.
