| Comment | Mount Florida is the most heavily-used station on the Circle, serving Hampden events, a college, a hospital, and one of the most densely-populated parts of Glasgow, it's also the only one with a lift. Staff at the station help with the marshalling of events, assist disabled passengers board and alight, provide ZoneCards, and of course sell tickets when the machines are down.
For reference, pre-pandemic Shawlands had around 180,000 annual passengers whereas Mount Florida had around 1,300,000. During COVID that was still about 30,000 vs 200,000.
The cost of station staff is, frankly, small beans compared to ensuring that a station with over a million users a year has someone on-hand to make sure things are working smoothly.
