By the time you notice one mouse there's likely already a family, they breed constantly and quickly. Council Pest Control are genuinely much better in my experience than private agencies but they're so busy you're sometimes waiting hours on the phone for an answer.

Don't buy 'ethical' or 'pain-free' traps, putting a mouse outside in the garden won't solve the problem.

If you see any holes appearing get them stuffed with steel wool immediately, rats can chew through it but not mice, it'll hopefully stop them in that bit.
