Yeah so improvements to public transport are required as well. Overall, I'm against cars in most city centres, but I'm sure there are issues that I haven't fully thought through. There are places which have no cars and manage so I'm also sure there are solutions.

In this case, I'd say if you're going really slow and acknowledge the street isn't for your car anymore but instead for people, it would be fine. You would apply for a permit since you have a valid reason (you need heavy equipment for gigs etc.) and as long as you didn't abuse it and only used the car in the city for transporting your heavy equipment you'd get to keep your permit.

Yes it would be more hassle for you, but it would make the lives of a lot of people so much better. Especially those that cannot drive due to age, disability etc. or those who just prefer cycling (like myself, who finds Glasgow pretty terrifying at times for cyclists).

Don't worry, I don't consider you a dick for asking me to clarify my ideas. It gives me a good chance to think it through a bit better as well and prod it more.
