Yes you make some good points. I hate to say it but i am a delivery cyclist (part time) as well as a hobby and commuter cyclist. The problem with a lot of the delivery cyclists is that they are using illegal bikes with throttles and a higher assisted speed than the legal limit of 15.5mph. They are not cyclists in the true sense of the word but they are only trying to make a living.

I don't take the piss and go through red lights but I do stand up for myself on the road.

A lot of cyclists do bend the rules and take short cuts over pavements and cross at the green man although in many instances that is allowed as some crossings have bike symbols on them even where there wasn't an obvious cycleway. It's also surprising how many pavements are actually designated shared use. Car drivers don't always notice this.

I know it annoys car drivers as they have to wait but at the end of the day what harm can a cyclist really do. Basically nothing. We all want to get about as quickly and efficiently as possible and it's great that it's now being noticed that bikes allow this. I can't imagine why anyone would want to drive a car into the city centre. I used to own a vehicle and getting rid of it and the expense was the greatest move I have ever made.
