| Comment | I earn what I would class as a good salary (2.2k pcm after tax) and my partner is on a much higher earnings than me.
We split all outgoings. I don’t really buy myself ‘stuff’, we only go out for a meal once a month if that. I have to be careful what I’m spending otherwise I find myself skint for a week before pay day and I know that my colleagues are the same as they all openly say it (my colleagues are on the same salary as me because we work for one of those rare companies where salary transparency is a big thing so everyone in the same role earns the same money)
I used to be able to save a decent amount but so far this year I haven’t saved anything and have depleted what I did have in my savings account.
I worry about the future, and although I am extremely lucky to have a decent income I do spend an unhealthy amount of time worrying about people on lower incomes managing to get by at the moment 😔 |
