Yeah I think to quote Margin Call 'you get used to what's in your pocket'.

So folk get mortgages, cars, loans etc. on the basis of salary and the climate - which are fine - and then when things spike - oh shit.

It depends on your stage - what is enough for a single guy might be completely different for parents, folk with mortgages etc.

My wife and I can't really complain about our total salary - but the rising costs, plus nursery fees (believe the hype), fuel costs etc. make things a lot tighter than they were.
