We moved in the new year to a place with £300 lower rent on the other side of the city- we both wfh so no commuting money. All electric, smaller flat, much cheaper council tax band too. Hoping that we’d save a bit and be able to put more into the deposit savings. We are pretty much net the same 🥲 electric has shot up, everything else has creeped up in price, I think food is the absolute killer.
Not worse off, but not better off in the smaller flat. And I’m a software engineer, fuck knows how everyone else is getting on (from what’s hear from my non software engineer friends- it’s looking grim. Looks like winters at my place, gather round the electric heater)
