Probably something that’s not possible for everyone (luckily). My house is not connected to gas (yet), so I have a wet electric heating system. Stupidly expensive with the current (and future) electricity prices. So I’m trying to get the house connected to gas and a gas boiler installed, which is trickier than it sounds, as I live in a listed building. Just also had Thermostatic radiator valves fitted on all my radiators and am getting my windows fixed (but that’s not happening until March - the guy is too busy at the moment). I also have a hot water tank, for which the temp was set way too high. Reduced that to 60C, which alone should shave a significant amount off my monthly bill come October. Turns out 30% of my annual energy usage goes towards keeping the water in the hot water tank hot. I was shocked that it’s that much.
Those costs will drop significantly once I have a combi boiler installed as I’ll only heat the water I use and don’t keep 180L at a constant 70 (now 60) degrees.
