The annual inflation rate in 2020 was 0.9%, in 2021 it was 2.6%. In July 2022 it was 10.1%.

The main causes of this are the impact of Covid, the impact on energy prices of the war in Ukraine & supply chain issues. Also Brexit, yes.

You quoted well known economist Frankie Boyle saying that inflation is driven by profits. Companies have always aimed to make the highest profits possible, this isn’t a new thing. And yet inflation rates fluctuate. It’s almost as if there’s other external factors which are the main cause.
