I take it you will be moving for work? I sincerely hope you will enjoy life here. Scotland is incredibly beautiful - beaches and hills and castles buffet! Glasgow is friendly and there are plenty of museums (a lot of them free) and concerts and exhibitions and theatre and life music, so no excuse to ever get bored. As a fellow immigrant one wee word of warning: fruit and veg will probably come as a shock to you, what the normal super markets offer is pretty limited, mostly imported and grown for longevity rather than taste. But there are loads of little shops that have better stuff.

The weather is actually nicer than it sounds: the rain is very often a fine drizzle that's halfway between fog and rain, and it doesn't get really cold (hardly below 0) or really hot (mostly below 30°). You will get used to it in a year or so, as long as you buy good quality waterproof clothing.
