It’s been done before in Scotland.

When they built the new towns in the 60s, East Kilbride development corporation was at the forefront of it. The problem was when centralised malls were built the localised shopping districts/pharmacies etc dwindled.

Now we are seeing the backpedal of the centralisation of services. However planning of new localities doesn’t actually adhere to this utopian notion of community building. It’s still a ‘pack em in and move onto the next build’ mentality.
