Going against the grain here it seems, but a female friend of mine must have done a half dozen projects with them over the past few years and really loves working for them. When lockdown was looming in March 2020 they starting firing off contracts to anyone they had a vague agreement about doing a show with so they could make sure those people still got paid even when the project was cancelled. The only fault I really know about is they are quite insular, trying to get in as an outsider even if you know people inside the company is neigh on impossible, and they do have a habit of using the same two dozen actors over and over.

Speaking generically, I am on my guard with most all theatre producers these days. Pretty much every single one will take advantage of you if you let them, some are a lot worse than others but an annoying part of my job is keeping them in check in terms of breaks, overtime payments, days off etc. Something we shouldn't have to be doing, and the hiring crisis in the industry seems to be (anecdotally) causing a genuine rise in standards (next gig has this concept called "two day weekends" and "10 hour work days") but that is currently where we are.

I would say if you do turn down the job, tell them why. Making sure employers know the issues potential hirees are having is seen as "rude" in British society, but things only progress when people speak up.
