| Comment | I would usually jump on the chance to mock "another ignorant American moving to Scotch-land" but I've got to say I feel you on this one, I pick up accents of people I'm with very easily, and because I've lived in so many places I'm to the point I'm not even sure what my own accent is. I ran into some guys from my home town recently when I was out with friends and the first thing they said is "why do you sound so Scottish?". The problem is, unless you experience this there's no way to explain it to other people, so my best advice would be to remember that this happens to you, if you're very conscious of it you will realise you're doing it more often and adjust accordingly. |
