Okay I always thought even under fixed prices they can't charge you above the price cap. 73p is much above the price cap though and it's a massive jump, I almost thought I was reading wrong.

Tbh I haven't gotten my first months bill yet to say but until yesterday my consumption was on track for a £40 bill per month, now it looks like it has doubled. Which is weird because I was given a fixed price estimate of £60 for the month. I thought this was okay because with the higher price cap my cost would increase to that much anyway and my debits now would count as credit balance, but it looks like they've hiked the tariff to put me on track for a £60 bill right from this month.

The way the fixed contract is marketed shows that it protects you from rising costs. I hope I can cancel the contract because the current billing rate is too high. I just signed it yesterday. I can't even eat without worrying about a ticking meter.
