In their defense I was informed at the meeting that the M8 is under the jurisdiction of transport Scotland and they are making effort to make pedestrian access better across it in any way they can.

I think cycling down bus lanes helps a lot in places, the riverside bus lane for example, is a pretty good option if cycling lanes cant be built, particularly if its a separated bus lane instead of incessant markings on the road.

I do know as well however that a cycle lane southside near bridge street subway fully spits you out straight onto a motorway junction so it could be better.
