Comment	i feel like most people who cycle in glasgow have at least one story about shitty drivers. sadly, it's all to common but i see so many folk pushing the blame onto cyclists with "should have worn bright, reflective clothing" or "well you probably should have followed the highway code" doesn't matter if you were following the rules, you still get lumped in with the rule breakers. often, just existing is enough to irritate these folk, so what are you meant to do then? get a camera? oh about that. so i did get a camera and within 3 weeks of me owning it, i got punishment passed. the driver's face was visible in the footage, as was the reg. they passed so close they actually hit my handle bars. filed a police report and when i got a call from the police about the incident, they said they couldn't accept the footage. when i asked why, they said "because we don't have the manpower" when i mentioned it was bullshit they just said "well maybe stay in the cycle lanes" the cycle lanes in glasgow which are complete bullshit. i kinda hate the culture war that's emerged in recent years of "cyclists are all lefty SJW's trying to take away our roads" bitch, i just wanna ride to the shops safely and without being killed. even if i do stick to the cycle lanes, so many of them are so poorly thought out or not maintained/enforced that using them is impossible. even the best one in glasgow (imho) the garscube road cycle lane has it's problems. as much as i don't like the guardian, they did this great article a few days ago on the hostility that cyclists often face. if you're anti-cyclist and you take away one thing from this thread, at least read this and think "what if that was my son/daughter" [https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2022/aug/30/why-do-some-people-hate-cyclists-so-much](https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2022/aug/30/why-do-some-people-hate-cyclists-so-much)
