By keeping to the left the cyclist is giving you space. If you see that the cyclist is approaching a parked car then, as a good driver, you should anticipate that they need to move over and let them go.

If it was another car then you would let them out. What is the alternative? The cyclist has to stop and then pull away again causing more congestion?

To keep traffic moving nobody should be getting forced to stop. All vehicles must be kept on the move at all times even if that means adjusting your speed to accommodate this.

It is also a misconception amongst car drivers that cyclists do not look. They actually do. On a bike a lot more concentration is required in regards what’s is directly in front of you. You also concentrate on your balance and the coordination of the handlebar. Most cyclists do look behind them with a quick glance and drivers often miss this. The use of the ears is also a good way of determining if a car is close behind you. Cycling a bike is not like driving a car where you have the luxury of a wider field of view, the ability to look over shoulders without losing control and the use of various mirrors.

Please be more considerate of cyclists who get jammed on the left due to parked cars. Please remember that they are in front of you and it is definitely unsafe and inconsiderate to use your two ton metal box to force them into stopping.
