It doesn't show ignorance.

You'll hear one Australian accent, or Canadian, South African, French, German, Chinese, Russian or any other big country.

We hear the different accents because we're familiar with how people in the different parts of our country speak. We can tell some parts of the American accent because of how wide spread their popular culture is but beyond that you'll only know a person's generic national accent.
