I'm not saying sectarian violence isn't a thing. But it's not like you have to keep your religious beliefs secret, like you're saying. It does not matter if you're Catholic or Protestant.
Being moderately cautious about your surroundings and how you conduct yourself should be more than enough to keep you out of trouble. Just like any city.
