I like the idea. I actually tried to get a similar thing going around 2018 sort of time (covid killed it). It was all organised via Facebook and ended up with a steady group of about 6 of us who'd meet up once a month and jam out to covers. Some of those people I'm still close with today.

I say go for it and I'm sure participants would be quite happy to chuck a fiver in for use of the space. Where are you thinking of hosting?

One thing I learned from experience is it's important to think about everyone's capabilities beforehand. What I mean is that I'm the kind of person who is totally happy with free improv jamming. I think my previous group were split right down the middle on that. Some of the group really were not into jamming, or didn't feel confident to improvise, and really preferred working from covers and chord charts. Just a thought, you might wanna pre decide some material everyone can play prior to meeting up or otherwise make participants aware that it would be mostly improv based just to save people showing up and feeling one way or the other and then feeling left out. I can imagine nothing worse than feeling shy and showing up to a freestyle jam session and have no idea what the hell you're meant to do if it isn't your thing.

Good luck & I'd be happy to join you if you get it going!
