| Comment | You never "have" to cycle at the "side" of the road. You are totally entitled to take as much space in a lane as makes you feel comfortable. With city centre cycling you will often both feel and be safer if you take a central lane position as is your right.
Use cycle lanes where possible and where they're not full of broken glass, potholes and illegally stopped vehicles. Many of them are so poorly maintained you're better off in the road.
Don't use footpaths unless clearly marked as shared use. |
