I appreciate your point but there are instances where I would thoroughly recommend cycling on the pavement in a safe manner. You have to remember that many cyclists are not car drivers and not as road savvy. You are ignoring the potential damage that cars cause to bones and flesh and on certain roads there is a much higher risk. There is no way that I will be cycling on Bearsden Road up that hill at busy times and I would advise cyclists with no driving experience to avoid it like the plague. There is no viable alternative for that route.

I am shocked that you have never felt unsafe cycling. Some drivers in Glasgow must get in front of you and will do that to the detriment of your safety, lights, high vis or not. Car drivers don't stick to the rules, the big difference is that when they break rules they can kill. I hadn't mentioned red lights before. This convo is about how to cycle to Bearsden from Knightswood via Anniesland.
