The city centre has always been a hole. Like someone above said, the west end (Byres Road, Great Western Road from Kelvinbridge subway to the Botanic Gardens, Kelvingrove park, Finnieston) is one of the best city areas in the entire UK. Hundreds of fantastic restaraunts and pubs, funky shops parks, walks along the river, Kelvingrove & riverside museums, etc etc
